INCEPTO'22

It was back in 2015 that we hosted the first inter college technical fest of the department, INCEPTO. Due to may reasons, we could not host it till this time. 

Yes, Incepto is back, back in full colour. The department is hosting INCEPTO'22, the intercollege technical fest during 30th and 31st May 2022. There are several events hosted as part of INCEPTO'22, including, Talk with Techie, Design and Software Workshop, Debate competition, Project Expo - Aavishkar, Idea Pitching Competition - Consilio, Model making competition, Cubix - cube strength competition, "Spiromania" - Tower making competition, Fun events like paint it red, performance by students and so on. And, there is change too, INCEPTO has a new logo one which portrays the department name. The logo was deigned by Akshay K M, S6 CEA. 

Its a great fun to see the students taking the leadership and organising such a large event. Check out the details here. The program is jointly organised by ASCE, ACE and ICI Kochi Chapter. Radio Mirchi is the media partner and there are several sponsors too.

SECON'22 Update

Our annual international conference SECON'22 - International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management will be hosted during 1-2 June 2022 in online mode. This is the Sixth Edition of SECON. Visit http://secon22.fisat.ac.in to get the details. There are some interesting keynote lectures by international speakers scheduled for these days, check this link. Bharatham 2K22 - back in full glory!!

The campus rocked for three days, 12, 13 and 14 May 2022, bringing back all the glory of Bharatham. It rained, rained and rained, but they danced, danced and danced. Three days of festivities brought back the thrill and enjoyment to everyone in the campus. This year, the stage was set on the western side of the college ground, a great one indeed. The lights, the glitz and glamour of Bharatham was the best so far in the campus. The intra college event Arangu was held on 12th and the inter college events on 13th and 14th.

The pro events included the stage show by  Astra - Band Ft. Rahul Lexman and Aravind Venugopal and Sreelakshmi,  Band Ft. Sooraj Santhosh & Remya and EDM by Siana Catherine. Rain gods always plays a role in Bharatham and this year was no different, it rained, rained and rained, but the campus danced, danced and danced, nothing can take the joy off the biggest party in our campus!!

Idea Pitching Competition - Winners

Winning a high profile professional competitive event is a great recognition to the talent. 

Kudos to the trio, Yadukrishna , Sinchan Dutta and Gokul Ajith from S6 CE for winning the runner up position in the idea pitching competition held at Port Muzris by Marriott Kochi on 12 May 2022. The event, "Rack and Crack" was organised by the department of Civil Engineering at Christ College of Engineering, Iringalakkuda and sponsored by Astrek innovations, Matterlab, ULCCS, QATAR Reliance International Ltd and Ceramic Centre.

Mapathon Keralam - Launching of crowd mapping process

In context of the Rebuild Kerala initiative post the devastating floods and landslides 2018, Government of Kerala had found it utmost necessary to have the up-to-date maps available in the public domain for reaching out to the needy and to manage supply of deliverables. In regard to this, Kerala Government had launched a participatory project known as ‘Mapathon Keralam’ which aims to create a detailed living map of Kerala. 

On 8 September 2021 FISAT signed an agreement with Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) for the Mapathon Kerala project. College was required to collect required data and map out Angamaly Municipality within the specified time period. The department of Civil Engineering was assigned this task and started work on 26 November 2021 with groups of students assigned to each ward that comes under the Angamaly municipality to cover.  

The students visited assigned ward location and marked its boundaries and also the important entities present in the ward such as schools, post office, PHC etc.The mapping process was done in a free and collaborative software tool called ‘OpenStreetMap’ which enabled the students to edit the map of the municipality and it provides with a high quality satellite imagery that helps to accelerate  the mapping process. All the necessary guidelines were met in regard to this. The whole project was completed in six working days and 30 ward boundaries were marked. The notable students who actively went for the on-site mapping for more than two days were Roshan Issac (S5 CE), Sinchan Dutta (S5 CE) & Shemin Majeed(S5 CE). The final project was handed over to KSITM. The students were awarded with a government certificate issued by the Kerala State IT Mission and so the project was finally concluded successfully. 

The project was lead by Ms. Neeraja Nair, Asst. Prof., Department of Civil Engg. I was lucky to be the student lead of the project!!

The Celebration Begins - Bharatham'22 Curtain Raiser

The festival every FISATian eagerly waits for - Bhava, Raga, Taala, Melam, Bharatham!!

The curtain raiser of Bharatham'22 was hosted in the south quadrangle today 4:00PM. Bharatham'22 will be hosted on 12, 13 and 14 May 2022.

Everyone waited eagerly and it was indeed a big surprise, the guests of honour were Music Director Gopi Sundar,  and Mr. Vivekandan, our own proud alumni. Both of them rocked the stage with a short high voltage performance. 

The flash mob was followed by the surprise appearance of Kathakali Character - all dressed up. The crowd cheered full throat as the college band performed a few numbers during the event.

Let the celebration begin!!

Two back to back basketball trophies!!

Nothing compares to the thrill of competing in a basketball tournament. It's thrilling to win it, and winning two in a row is sheer joy.

After a long break, our basketball team has won two tournaments back to back. First one at the state level and followed by a trophy at the National level!! 

The team won the All Kerala Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament, 2022 held at Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam and All India Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament conducted at NIT Calicut as a part of Ragam 2022. 

Kudos to the team. The civilian in the team is Adhil M, S4 CE. Congratulations!! And there is one more thing the Department can rejoice about - the team coach is our alumni, Harikrishan, 2020 graduating batch CE.
