Technical Talk on "Sustainalism"

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) FISAT chapter hosted a technical talk on January 29, 2024, featuring Hariram N P, a Research Scholar from UMPSA Malaysia Pahang. The session, open to all students, drew participants from both BTech and MTech programs.

The engaging discussion delved into the three pillars of sustainability, including social, environmental, and economic aspects. Hariram N P emphasised the importance of innovative solutions to foster a more sustainable built environment, covering topics such as energy-efficient building designs, green building initiatives, and strategies to reduce carbon emissions.

The session also explored the implementation of cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the civil engineering field. Attendees were informed about various software applications and presented with insights into research and post-doctoral opportunities within the field.

A significant portion of the talk focused on the potential collaboration between IGBC FISAT chapter and ICFGS, International
Community for Global Sustainability in projects related to "Sustainalism," a concept currently under exploration by the resource person, Hariram N P who is currently working under the guidance of Dr. Sudhakar
Kumarasamy, UMPSA, Malaysia. Sustainalism revolves around an Integrated Socio-Economic-Environmental Model aimed at addressing sustainable development and sustainability.

Discussions unfolded regarding the prospect of partnering with FISAT IGBC chapter for projects associated with sustainanalism. Future communications will be established with the IGBC student chapter at FISAT to explore potential collaborations and discuss further opportunities related to this emerging field. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting initiative.
