Environmental Day Celebrations 2023

The department celebrated the world Environmental day, today June 5, 2023, by organising two events. Planting a tree sapling on campus and hosting a webinar on "Circular economy in waste management"

Dalmia Cements sponsored the tree sapling and it was planted in front of our campus. The event was held around 2.30 pm near the main gate.

The chief guest for the event was our beloved Dr. Molly Joseph, retired professor of English. After a small short welcome by Dr. Jiji Antony, HoD, Dr. Molly Joseph, gave away a beautiful message. Being a poet herself, she spoke eloquently about nature and expressed her deep desire to be with nature.  As she rendered the poem about planting a tree by the renowned poet Sugathakumari, everyone joined, and it was pure joy and it made the occasion special. The rain gods showered their blessing with a slight drizzle, welcoming our small gesture to preserve nature. May be they were waiting for us to finish to shower the tree with rain!!

Even though Molly madam stole the show, the support of Dalamia Cements is appreciable, it is their proactive role that made the activity more meaningful. The event was joined by  Mr. Varun PR, Assistant manager, Technical service, Mr. Sreerag, Executive- sales and Mr. Jithu, officer, Sales, Dalmia cements.

Dr. Manoj George, Principal, Dr. Mini, Vice Principal, Dr. Unni Kartha, Dean (Academics), Ms. Neeraja, Faculty member, ASCE student coordinators, Nandhana Prasad, Sivaraj B, and Shradha P Vishwanath joined the occasion. Together they planted a mango tree, and pledged to protect
mother earth.
