Today marks the first day of Onam, Atham - officially, the ten day festivities starts today. It is a time of great joy and happiness for everyone who belong to this small tiny state of Kerala who proudly call themselves Malayallees. The canteen & hostel contractor arranged a Sadya for everyone on campus today - including faculty and the hostel inmates. It was a pleasant surprise - many got the news only in the morning. What a way to start Onam!!
The brotherhood, camaraderie, and sharing that characterise Onam are its fundamental essence. As the song goes, മാവേലി നാടു വാണീടും കാലം, മാനുഷ്യരെല്ലാരും ഒന്നുപോലെ - (it loosely translates social equality) Let's celebrate Onam in its true spirits, share joy and happiness with everyone around.
Not all students are in campus as of now, many are having exams, some are over, some are in midway. Nonetheless, the official celebration of students is happening on 3rd September, wait for the update - its going to be big this time - as always.
