With 88 blog posts published this year, it captures many milestones, achievements and memorable moments. So much has happened, and with every post, we continue to grow as a department and as a community.

February 2025 – Learning, Exposure, and Outreach

February was a bustling month of academic exposure and community engagement. Students participated in an industrial visit covering Udupi, Dandeli, Hampi, and Hyderabad, blending cultural exploration with technical insights. The department conducted multiple knowledge sessions, including a technical talk on 2D/3D modelling software and an employability session by NACTET to enhance technical skills and career preparedness. A meaningful social outreach project on water quality monitoring at Anappara Village reflected commitment to community service. The month also featured National Road Safety Week activities promoting safe travel and awareness. March 2025 – Skill Workshops, Competitions, and Research

March maintained the momentum with academic skill-building and competitive success. Our department hosted a three-day Workshop on Autodesk Revit, equipping students with hands-on proficiency in BIM and architectural modelling. Students also excelled in extracurricular competitions, with the FISAT teams winning double gold in the Tug of War Inter-Zone Championship and notable fashion show titles at inter-college events. Civil students earned top honours in the World Water Day elocution competition, and faculty research efforts were recognized with a KTU research grant for soil improvement work. April 2025 – Reflection, Innovation, and Community

April was an emotional and intellectually rich month. The department paid tribute to a beloved member, Abu Faiz, whose passing was mourned by all. Students showcased their innovative talents at AAVISHKAR 2025, the flagship project exhibition that highlighted diverse civil engineering solutions from structural design to environmental analysis. The heartfelt farewell party for the Class of 2025 brought together students and faculty for celebrations of friendship and growth. June was a month of celebrations for academic accomplishment and broader awareness. Students delivered strong performances in the Semester 8 examinations, with many achieving high CGPAs and honours. The department also celebrated its placement successes for the graduating batch and published the much-awaited Aurora 2025 college magazine. July 2025 – A Fresh Academic Start

July marked the beginning of a new academic cycle, welcoming fresh faces into the department while setting the tone for a productive year ahead. Orientation programmes, mentoring interactions, and introductory academic sessions helped new students settle into campus life. Faculty members actively engaged in planning academic delivery, add-on courses, and student support initiatives, reinforcing the department’s focus on structured learning and smooth academic transitions.


August 2025 – Skill Development and Student Engagement

September focused on academic enrichment and outreach activities. Faculty and students participated in seminars, webinars, and expert talks covering contemporary themes in civil engineering and allied fields. Student involvement in competitions, presentations, and collaborative learning activities highlighted the department’s encouragement of curiosity beyond the classroom. October 2025 – Achievements Beyond the Classroom

October brought recognition and celebration of student achievements in sports, cultural, and co-curricular domains. Students represented the institution at inter-zone and university-level tournaments, bringing laurels to the department. November 2025 – Faculty Excellence and Academic Milestones

The department proudly celebrated the achievement of Dr. Asha Joseph, Professor, who was honoured with the Best Teacher Award by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), a moment of great pride for the entire academic community. The month also featured academic reviews, student mentoring sessions, and preparations for year-end activities, strengthening academic quality and institutional values.


December 2025 – A Year Concludes with Celebration and Reflection

December brought the year to a joyful close with reflection, reunion, and celebration. The highlight was the Alumni Meet 2025, held at the beautifully illuminated South Quadrangle, where nearly 200 alumni, including members of the first graduating batch of 2006, returned to campus. The vibrant ambience, thoughtfully arranged lighting, and a soulful musical performance by the FISAT Music Club created an unforgettable evening filled with melodies, memories, and meaningful conversations. Beginning at 6 PM and continuing till 10 PM, the event marked the start of a cherished tradition, with the third Saturday of December officially declared as Alumni Day. The month concluded with festive cheer, year-end reflections, and a shared sense of accomplishment.

From classrooms to campuses, from achievements to memories, 2025 captured the spirit of a department that continues to evolve while staying rooted in its values.
