ICAEMS 2024 - Conference by S&H Dept

The department of Science and Humanities at our campus organised ANRF (DST-SERB) sponsored International Conference on Advanced Energy Materials for a Sustainable Future (ICAEMS 2024) on 22 & 23 August 2024. 


One of our M.Tech Students Ms. Nayana Tenny and our B.Tech student, Mr. Mohammed Ali (S7CEB) presented papers in this conference. 

Nayana's paper was on "Plastic Lumber as a Sustainable Building Material" co-authored by Dr. Kavitha PE and Mr. Mohammed Ali's paper was on "Obsolete Soalr Panel Powder as Sustainable Alternative to Fine Aggregate in Concrete" co-authored by Dr. Kavitha PE (Associate Professor), and Ms. Chaithanya P R (S3 M Tech SECM).

Concrete Talk!

The department organized a technical talk on 'Concrete' by Er. Shyju Nair on 23 August 2024. Er. Shyju Nair is the Chief Executive Officer at DH Academy and Secretary of the ICI Kochi Chapter. He is an expert in the domain of mix design and has extensive experience in the field.

The session provided the attendees with in-depth knowledge about advanced mix design techniques and their practical applications in the construction industry. It was an enlightening experience that enhanced the participants' understanding of concrete technology and its evolving trends.

The session was attended by 35 students and was conducted in association with ACE, ICI, ASCE, IGBC and IIC.

The students and faculty members posed for a group photo with the speaker after the session!

Civil House - Thank you Abhirami!

As part of the alumni interaction series, Civil House, Abhirami V (2020-24 batch) who is currently the Billing Engineer, Pidilite, Mumbai interacted with the final year students on 7 August 2024. She spoke warmly about her experiences and the positive impact of her teachers at our campus. Abhirami had five offers in her hand at the time of completing the course!

Abhirami spent some time to detail how the Add-On Courses offered by the department helped her in finding the first job. She stressed on the importance of practical skills she was able to acquire through the add on courses. According to her, there are lot of opportunities for civil engineers, one should put in efforts to acquire the required skill sets and prepare well for interview along with studies.

Abhirami's session was very inspiring and motivated the students. Before leaving, she did not forget to click a photo with her teachers in front of the department.
