Twentieth Institutional day celebrations 2021

The twentieth institutional day celebration was held on 23 September 2021. This day marks the first day of classes at FISAT in 2002. It is also a day to remember all those who contributed to the development of FISAT. Due to the restrictions of the pandemic, this year also the day was celebrated in the virtual mode. Dr. Manoj George, Principal, in his welcome speech highlighted the major achievements of FISAT during the past one year and how we were able to take FISAT one step forward in its journey to excellence. The leadership provided by the management team, the previous principals were acknowledged. 

The Chairman of governing body, Dr. P Anitha in her message acknowledged the contributions of the founding members of the management team, especially the leadership of Adv. P V Mathew, the founder chairman, who took the initiative to establish FISAT and to give it the shape which we see now. She acknowledged the contributions of every single person who has been a part of FISAT irrespective of the job role or the kind of association with FISAT. She appreciated the entire team for the good efforts they have put in to overcome the new challenges posed by the pandemic and the changing scenario of the engineering education sector in the country.

The best teacher award and the award for non teaching members were also announced. Dr. Arun Kumar M N, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering was recognised this year as the best teacher and and Mr. Shibu PS, Mechanical Engineering workshop Superintendent was chosen for the best performing non teaching staff.

All management committee members, members of FBOAES, faculty members, non teaching staff members, PTA and well wishers of FISAT attended the event.

Civil House - Thank you Gouri

The third webinar in the series Civil House was hosted today 18 Sep, 4:00PM. Ms. Gouri CT, 2012-2016 batch was the guest of honour. Gouri is currently Senior Associate - Strategic Consulting CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd. She had completed her Masters from NICMR, Pune, after completing  B.Tech from FISAT. 

The one and a half hour session was quite interesting, Gouri sharing her journey on how she ended up in Industry. One of key point Gouri initially mentioned was about Identifying that one subject you like the most - the favourite subject and focussing on it. She also focussed on the importance on understanding the industry and understanding the different types of opportunities. She spoke in detail about Contracting and Consulting, the differences and the types of job profiles in those. The importance of doing internship was also stressed by Gouri.

It was a great privilege to have Gouri back in campus and speaking to the students - Virtually. Looking forward to more of you alumni coming forward. Indeed, this online platform is becoming a great opportunity for the current students.

Congratulations Winners - Engineer's day events

Congratulations to the winners of the competitions organised by ASCE Student Chapter of FISAT on the occasion of Engineers Day 2021. Students from 12 Schools participated in the events. 

There were four events for different age categories of school students. The winners of the competitions are

Engineer’s Day Events 2021

Engineer’s Day is celebrated in India on 15th September to commemorate the birthday of Mr. M Visvesvaraya, a Civil Engineer who contributed immensely to our Nation Building process post Independence. Taking inspiration from his ethos and passion in the field of Civil Engineering, the department is organising National Engineer’s Day Celebrations involving the student community. 

The event includes a quiz and drawing competition for school students of standards 5-8. The students of standards 9-12 can participate in events such as quiz, poster designing and a task based competition ‘GooseChase’. BTech students will be participating in an app based game “Treasure hunt”, involving engineering principles. 

Cash awards worth ₹4000 are planned for the winners. We hope the event will spark the joy of engineering and creation in learners through these fun activities. Results will be declared on Engineer’s Day.
