SECON Proceedings in Springer

Its a proud moment for the department, the proceedings of SECON'24, the International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management, hosted by the department has been announced by Springer. The proceedings is a part of the book series published by Springer Nature under the title Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering.

Civil House - Mohammed Siyan

Mohammed Siyan from 2020-24 batch, who recently joined as Specification Engineer, Saint Gobain visited the campus to interact with the students on 26th July 2024 as part of the Alumni interaction series, Civil House. 

Siyan's talk was mostly about how to develop character and knowledge for attending interview. He dwelled upon the ways to tackle interview effectively and his own experience during campus interviews.  

Siyan answered the queries of students regarding campus placements and technical interview preparations. Before closing the session, he shared his memories about his college life and thanked the department for the opportunity.

Outstanding Placements

When IT industry hiring slowed, the core placement is went up!! Our class of 2024 Civil Engineering secured 52 placement offers with a highest package of 7.88LPA. 

This placement could be achieved by the add on courses offered by the department in the domains of waterproofing, BIM and the rigorous placement training programs conducted by the college. The department congratulates all the students who are offered!! 

The companies which hired our students include Asian Paints, Aarbee Structures, Nina Percept (Pidilite), Chryso (Saint-Gobain), Ultratech Cement, Weather Fighter, Ethios Enviro Solutions, BIM Labs Global,  Mazameer Design & Engineering Studio. The students' performance has been exceptional, reflecting the collective effort of the department in shaping them into skilled civil engineers.

Thank you Aengel!

Aengel Maria Yeldho our 2020-24 batch alumni, who just recently joined Pidilite took a session on preparing for interview as part of Civil House, the department's alumni connect series. 

The event was held on 19 July 2024. Aengel spoke about the preparations that are required for attending interview. Preparation is a key factor and helps in developing the confidence, according to her. 

Practicing the commonly asked questions in interviews, maintaining a good posture and dressing appropriately are very important when it comes to attending campus interviews. She explained how positive self tak can boost self confidence while attending interviews. 

The session was very informative for the final year students who attended the event and lasted almost one hour.

Runners up - Badminton Professors cup

Happy to announce that our faculty member Abin Thomas, was a team member of the Badminton team which won the runners up title in the All Kerala Inter Collegiate Engineering College Staff Badminton Tournament held at Muthoot Institute of Technology, Ernakulam. His team mate was Dr. Abi Mathew, Professor and Head, Department of EIE, FISAT.

Thank you Nevin Joy! Civil House

Nevin Joy , our Alumni from 2020-24 batch visited the college on 2nd July 2024. He is currently working as the Graduate Engineer Trainee with Saint Gobain, Thrissur. Nevin accepted the department's invitation to speak to the juniors as part of the alumni interaction series, Civil House.

Fresh out of the college, this is his first job and his session was about the road to getting a job and the various career opportunities. He talked about the Add-on Courses offered by the department like BIM and Water Proofing and how it helped in getting a job from campus - not just for him, but for his batchmates as well. 

Nevin Joy shared his memories about his college experience and thanked the department for inviting him as a guest to share his experience. According to him, waterproofing offers a lot of opportunities and add on courses is will help in securing those opportunities.  

Later the students interacted with the Nevin, they asked several questions about the job profiles and he patiently answered those. Before closing the session faculty members too found some time to interact with Nevin. The teachers shared their memories and thanked him for accepting the invitation.
