Employability Session by NACTET
The session was facilitated by Mr. Adithyan M. S., Project Manager, and Mr. Ershad Muhammad, Planning Engineer, both from Armstech Engineers Pvt. Ltd. The resource persons provided an introduction to NACTET and highlighted its role in enhancing technical skills and employability for engineering graduates. They also shared details about a refresher course on the basics of Civil Engineering, designed to strengthen core concepts among students.
Following the session, a test was conducted to assess the participants' knowledge. The winners, Henin Antony from S8CE21A and Keerthana Biju from S8CE21B, were awarded scholarships to enroll in a specialised course offered by NACTET.

Social Outreach - water quality monitoring at Anappara Village

As part of the project, water samples were collected from various sources across Anappara Panchayat. These samples were tested, and a comprehensive report was prepared and submitted to the Panchayat.
The project was led by Dr. Jiji Antony, HoD, and coordinated by faculty members Ms. Anna Rose and Ms. Neeraja. Lab staff members, including Ms. Sophy Thomas and Mr. Jaison Joseph, along with student members Mr. Arun Jaison, Ms. Anna Lesly, and Mr. Aadityan Balachandran, were also part of the team.
The project was a great success, and the final report was officially handed over by our Chairman, Mr. Shimith P. R., to Rev. Father Basil Punchaputhussery of Anappara Village, Thuravoor Grama Panchayat. The event was also featured in print media!

Technical Talk - 2D & 3D Modelling Software
The resource persons provided a detailed overview of various drafting software commonly used in the civil engineering industry. The importance of AutoCAD and its relevance in modern design and construction practices were emphasized, followed by an introduction to AutoCAD 3D and its applications in creating three-dimensional models and visualizations.
The speakers also discussed the features and advantages of using SketchUp as a 3D modeling tool. In addition to the technical content, the students were briefed on the internship programs offered by Solid CAD, aimed at equipping them with practical skills and enhancing their industry readiness. The session was interactive and informative, offering valuable insights that connected academic learning with professional applications.

Triumph at IIT Madras
In a remarkable display of intellect and perseverance, Abhiram and Anantha Krishnan from our department's fourth semester have emerged victorious in the prestigious Battle of Brains contest at IIT Madras. Competing against some of the brightest minds from top institutions across the country, they showcased exceptional problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and teamwork to claim the top spot.
This victory highlights the immense potential within our student community to compete and excel at the highest levels. Their outstanding achievement not only brings immense pride to our department but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring minds to push the boundaries of excellence.
Congratulations to Abhiram and Anantha Krishnan on this phenomenal success and look forward to many more such accomplishments in the future.

National Road Safety week celebration
The program featured a range of engaging competitions, including slogan writing, logo design, photography, quizzes, and emerging technology ideas, allowing students to creatively express their understanding of road safety. The event saw over 100 participants, with winners recognized through certificates and prizes for their contributions.
A key highlight was the Road Safety Awareness Workshop, held on January 28, 2025, in the Library Seminar Hall. The workshop was conducted by scientists from the National Transportation Planning and Research Centre (NATPAC), who shared expert insights on traffic regulations, accident prevention, and defensive driving techniques. Shri Anish Kini, Scientist at NATPAC, inaugurated the session and emphasized the importance of technological advancements in road safety.
Dr. Rameesha T.V., Scientist at NATPAC, led an engaging session on safe driving behaviors, pedestrian safety, and accident risk reduction. The workshop also featured an interactive quiz, testing students’ knowledge on key road safety concepts. The event successfully reinforced the importance of safe driving, pedestrian awareness, and adherence to traffic laws among the participants.
