Get Set Out!

The Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) chapter of our department organized “GET SET OUT”, an engaging hands-on competition designed to develop students’ practical skills in teamwork, communication, and precision.

Held on 23 September 2026 at Greenfield, the competition provided students with an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the practical aspects of civil engineering fieldwork. Student worked in teams to complete the assigned setting-out challenge, requiring them to coordinate effectively, communicate clearly, take accurate measurements, and execute the task with precision.

The event highlighted the importance of accurate setting-out in construction, where even small errors in measurement or alignment can affect the quality and accuracy of the final work. Through this activity, students were encouraged to apply their technical knowledge while developing confidence in handling practical site situations.

The winning team which includes Parvathy V K, Suryajith M U, Sreerag K P and Karthik M J of S5 CEB demonstrated excellent coordination, accuracy, teamwork, and field skills.
Their successful performance showcased the importance of working together and maintaining precision while carrying out a field-based engineering task.

GET SET OUT successfully transformed a fundamental civil engineering field activity into an exciting and experiential learning opportunity. The event encouraged students to learn by doing, communicate effectively, work as a team, and develop the practical skills needed for professional civil engineering practice.
