International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women It is also a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. [1]
As part of 2022 celebrations on campus, “A talk on Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” was organised by Gender Equity Cell in association with IQAC, FISAT on 8th March 2022. The speaker Dr. Kochurani, Associate professor & Head (Retd.), Bharathamatha College, Thrikkakara started her one hour talk with clearly differentiating the two terms Women empowerment and Gender Equity.
Gender equity doesn’t mean the equity of physique, not the equity of mental health but the equity of dignity. Boys and girls should be trained by the family, society and themselves to respect the people irrespective of gender both at work place as well as in the family. Students of final year BTech, MBA & MCA attended the program.
