Joint Research with Saga University Japan

Two faculty members from our department, Dr. Unni Kartha G and Ms. Neeraja, are collaborating with Saga University, Japan, on a joint research project titled “Seismic Analysis of Offshore Wind Turbines.” As part of this collaboration, they visited the Institute of Ocean E
nergy, Saga University, Japan, from 23 to 30 August 2026.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss the ongoing research in detail, review the progress of the work, and plan the next stages of the study. Interactions with the researchers at Saga University helped in exchanging ideas on the seismic behaviour of offshore wind turbine systems and in exploring possibilities for further collaborative research.

The visit also offered exposure to the research facilities and academic environment at Saga University, contributing to a better understanding of the approaches followed in advanced research in this area.

Beyond the academic interactions, the visit also provided an opportunity to experience Japanese culture, work practices, and everyday life and most interestingly, food.

Visits to nearby places and interactions with people helped in gaining a broader appreciation of the discipline, hospitality, and cultural traditions of Japan.

Overall, the visit was a valuable experience that strengthened the ongoing research collaboration and opened up possibilities for continued academic and research engagement between FISAT and Saga University.
